Brand new complete TB42 cylinder head for Nissan Patrol GQ and GU with 4.2L 6-cylinder petrol engine. Supplied with valves, springs, retainers, seals, gasket set and head bolts fitted. Professionally assembled and pressure tested. A popular rebuild part for the iconic Patrol 4WD.

Important: The TB42 is an OHV pushrod engine — the camshaft and rocker gear are located in the engine block, not the cylinder head. This complete head includes valves, springs, retainers and seals only. No camshaft or rockers are required with this head.

Why is there no camshaft listed in What's Included?
The TB42 is an OHV (overhead valve) pushrod engine. Unlike modern SOHC or DOHC engines, the camshaft sits in the engine block — not in the cylinder head. Your original camshaft and rocker gear remain in the block and are not affected by a head replacement.
Why choose a complete assembled head over a bare casting?

Are the cylinder heads supplied assembled?
Most are supplied assembled, with the camshaft, valves, springs and seals already fitted so they are ready for installation. Some applications require the original camshaft and rocker gear to be transferred across. Confirm the details in the ‘What’s Included’ section for the product you are viewing.
What will I receive with my order?
The contents vary by application. Most complete cylinder-head kits include the assembled head, a VRS gasket set and new head bolts. Some products require reuse of the original camshaft and rockers. For engines using an MLS gasket, we supply the thickest available specification. Gasket-set-only products include the head gasket, manifold gaskets, valve stem seals, rocker cover gasket, head bolts and required O-rings.
